What is the Applicant Portal?

The Applicant Portal is HPHA's new online system that will allow applicants to update their information and receive notifications electronically.  Applicants no longer need to show up in person, or wait for someone to answer their phone call, in order to update their application for housing.  They can connect to the Applicant Portal at their convenience, 24 hours a day, from anywhere with an internet connection.  The system is password protected for security.

How can I get access to the Applicant Portal?

In order to access the Applicant Portal, you must already be active on one of HPHA's waiting lists.  If you are, a letter will be mailed to the address that you have on file in early 2019.  You will need Head of Household’s information (Name, Date of Birth, SSN), your Entity ID from that letter, and a valid email address, in order to register.

What if I forgot my password?

If you do not remember your password, click on “Forgot Password?” to reset it.  The new password will be emailed to the address that you just registered with.  Please note that this is not the same system from the 2016 Section 8 online registration Those accounts are no longer valid.  All applicants will need to register for an account under this new "hpha.myhousing.com" portal.

How can I get a FREE email address?

A valid email address will be required in order to register for access to the Applicant Portal.  If you do not already have an email address, choose one of the following services below, and follow the instructions to get your free email address.

What if I did not receive a letter?

If you did not receive a letter, your address on file might not have been correct, or you may have been previously cancelled from the waiting list.  Please note that Oahu waiting lists are currently closed, so you will have to wait until these lists open again, in order to reapply.

How do I create an account to use the Applicant Portal?

To do this, you will need a valid email address, and the entity id indicated on your letter.  Only the head of household will be able to create this account.

Begin by going to the link below using your web browser.

Click on the “Register” link.  Enter applicant’s first initial, last name, and dob – then click the Continue button.

 

If successful, you will be prompted to enter the applicant’s Entity ID #.

 

Next, fill in all of the required info – email address, password, and preferred language.

If successful, the screen will display “Registration Complete!”

If it does not, follow through on the messages that are displayed to correct any issues.

When registration is complete, try logging in with your user name and password.

How can I update the information in my Application for housing?

Now that you have registered online, log into your account on the Applicant Portal, at https://hpha.myhousing.com/Account/Login

 

If you do not remember your password, click on “Forgot Password?” to reset it.  The new password will be emailed to the address that you registered with.

 

 

After logging in, you will see your Dashboard view.  Any new “Notifications” will be listed.

 

 

 

When you are ready to begin the actual review and updating process, click on “Update Your Application(s)” in the upper right-hand corner.

 

 

Read the Welcome statement, and click the “Get Started” button…

 

 

 

Click on your application (may be grouped together).

 

 

 

Review the Head of Household information, and then click “Next.”

 

 

 

 

Review the data for the Family members that will be living with you, and click “Next.”

 

 

 

 

Review your Address, and update it if necessary.  Click “Next.”

 

 

 

Enter Income from all family members that will be living with you, then click “Next.”

 

 

 

Review what you have entered, so far…

 

 

 

Check the box at the bottom of the screen to verify your information and click “Next.”

 

 

 

View the Waiting Lists that you are on, and see your current status directly below each list.  Click “Next” to continue.

 

 

 

 

 

Answer any additional questions that may appear, then click verify (box) and “Submit.”

 

 

If no changes were made, click “Cancel.”

 

 

Click “Submit” to enter your changes, pending review by HPHA administrative staff.

 

 

 

Click “Back Home” to return to your dashboard.

 Can I create a new Application?

Waiting lists for housing on Oahu are currently closed.  Announcements will be made when the lists reopen.

Can I use a smart phone to access the Applicant Portal?

 

If you do not have a computer, a smart phone, tablet, or other internet enabled device can also be used to access the Applicant Portal. The main difference will be how much information is readable on the smaller device's screen.  You may have to scroll down more often, to see the content.  See actual iPhone screenshots below.

 

You can access the Applicant Portal at the same address https://hpha.myhousing.com/Account/Login

 

If you do not remember your password, click on “Forgot Password?” to reset it.  The new password will be emailed to the address that you registered with.

 

Log into the Applicant Portal.

See recent notifications on dashboard.

Click the “three bars” below HPHA to see the menu.

Click “Update Application(s)” and it will take you to the Welcome screen.

Scroll down and click “Get Started”

Select the Application to update.

Update Head of Household information.

Click the green arrow to continue.

Update info for all family member screens, if needed.

Click the green arrow to continue.

Update mailing Address.

Click the green arrow to continue.

Update any Family Income, and click the green arrow to continue.

Review the Summary info.

Verify the Summary info, and click the green arrow to continue.

Select the Waiting List to view your current status.

Click the green arrow to continue.

Verify that the info is correct, and click the green arrow to continue.

Click the green button to “Submit” the changes, if any.

You will then be returned to the Dashboard screen, where you originally started.

 What if I don't have access to a computer?

 

HPHA also plans to have a few computers available at 1002 N. School Street, Bldg L, from 8 am-12:00 noon on Monday through Friday, from March 15, 2019 to April 30, 2019.  Staff are on duty to assist with Applicant Portal registration.

When will the Oahu waiting lists be open again, so that I can apply for housing?

At this time, we do not know.  When they do, announcements will be made through local news media, to let the public know which specific lists will be open.

Error message -- Account already exists?

If you previously experienced any problems creating an account, please try again at https://hpha.myhousing.com/Account/Login  You will still need your Entity ID from the letter that was sent to you, and a valid email address.  Be careful when entering your password, as it is case sensitive.

Please note that this is not the same system from the 2016 Section 8 online registration.  Those accounts are no longer valid.  All applicants will need to register for an account under this new "hpha.myhousing.com" portal.

Need an Interpreter?

Interpreters are being scheduled on the following dates and times to help applicants with the Applicant Portal. Please call, if you require a different language.

 

Cantonese/Mandarin Interpreter - Monday,  May 6th  8:00am – 10:00am

Chuukese Interpreter – Tuesday, May 7th  9:00am – 11:00am

Vietnamese Interpreter – Tuesday, May 14th  8:00am – 10:00am

 

Korean and Spanish speaking staff are onsite most days from 8:00am -- 12:00pm

 

Login Tip

Please type in your password carefully when logging in, with proper upper and lower case letters and numbers.  Error logs are showing many failed attempts to log in, simply because the password was not entered correctly.  Also, please remember that this is not the old portal from the 2016 Section 8 online registration.  You must create a new account in this "hpha.myhousing.com" portal.

Deadline Extended!

The April 30th deadline has been extended to June 15th, 2019.  If you have not registered yet, and want to remain on our waiting lists, please register before the deadline.

 

IF BY JUNE 15, 2019, you have not registered with the HPHA’s Applicant Portal and have not requested more time due to a disability nor have any other extenuating circumstances present, the HPHA will understand that you have chosen your application to be cancelled and you will be removed from our waitlists.
